Fertile Myrtle

I went out  on the ramp at the Oakland airport when I was a kid and got a real good look at her, that was about 1976. In1977 I saw her at  the Travis AFB airshow.

Static Display

As you know, the B-29 "Doc" recently took to the air in Wichita KS. I am curious to know, as I read the article and see your aircraft is "fully restored", does she have the capability to start? What systems have been restored and what systems are static (display only)?

Fertile Myrtle

I believe this aircraft was owned by William Penn Patrick from Holiday Magic  (Revlon).  This aircraft was in Santa Rosa at the old Navy Base for quite some time I think in the late 60s or early 70s and then one day "off it went!"  with a film crew from Hollywood filming the departure.  I too was there!   Steve

.50 Caliber Machine Guns used on B17 in WW2

Is there is way to find out serial numbers on the .50 caliber machine guns on B17 Serial No. 43-37872 which crashed on January 8, 1945 in Luxembourg. Parts of the plane and the guns are on display at the General Patton Museum in Ettelbruck, Luxembourg and it is trying to verify. My father, Sgt. Robert G. Anderson, was the tail gunner on this plane.

Taking a Step Back

Hello Everyone,

Be sure to help our wiki get back in the air again! I am Fargo84, Air Marshal on the the wiki. While I'm not the most active user on the wiki, I do wish to take care of it. Unfortuneately, the wiki has been in a state of decline in the past months to the point of near abandonment. While I cannot promise to be here everyday because of my duties to our partner wiki, the WWII Wiki, I will be running a complete overhaul on the wiki. Images will be renamed, code will be imported, layouts will be changed, templates will be deleted. If anyone is confused about the changes, please consult me before reverting the them. Below is my list of goals for the reorganization, whenever a goal has been met, I will promptly cross it off the list.

Boeing B-29

I was stationed at Lowry AFB when they brought the B-29 in and assembled it. I have some photos shot at different stages of the process (from the yard).  It would be incredible to see another flying B-29.  When I was at Shepard AFB in 1985, Fifi, the only flying B-29, landed and was there briefly.

history of the name

I am wondering where the name of this plane came from. My kids love coming here and think its funny but I want them to know where the name really came from and I know it has to do with the color of strawberries....
