ZA947 is a Douglas C-47 Dakota that is currently owned by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. It was built in March, 1942 and used by the United States Army Air Force until being transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force in September of the same year. She was used through World War II and was finally declared surplus in 1971. The BBMF gained the Dakota in March, 1993, and it is now used as a display aircraft as well as occasionally being flown in air shows. It also acts as a multi-engie training aircraft for the Flight's Lancaster bomber. It is painted as Dakota FZ692 of No 233 Squadron, which dropped paratroopers on D-Day.
